Yoshindo Yoshihara, one of the most famous traditional swordsmiths in Japan, makes his living crafting a traditional Japanese sword called Nihon-Toh. In his workshop in Tokyo, Japan, Yoshihara and his apprentices craft swords from raw steel. After the metal has been heated up, it is forged continuously to remove impurities and make the steel stronger. The texture of the metal changes into something completely different from other metal goods. The sword has an important role in Japanese culture, symbolizing royal inheritance.
